Instant Messengers: Pain or Gain?

50 years ago, nobody had imagined that by clicking a button and typing some text we would be able to communicate with someone across the globe. All this has been made possible through the Internet.

The Internet is an evolving world but the elements held within it are also evolving quite rapidly. Taking chatting as an example, initially this was done through mIRC or ICQ which were quite primitive tools. You’d go into what was called a channel and start chatting with your peers from across the globe.

How to remove the MSN Virus?

One of the major threats for Internet users are viruses and trojans. I’m quite sure that at some point, every Internet user fell victim of a virus or trojan – the difference is that some knew about this and removed it, whilst some others didn’t and kept it spreading.

Attackers are normally trying to find the best platform to spread their virus as much as possible and what better than using the latest Internet trend? That means, Instant Messaging! I, for one, receive tens of messages from people who are on my MSN contacts list saying that they have a picture of me and inviting me to click a link. Luckily for me, I’ve never clicked on any of these links but I’m pretty sure that many would click even for the sake of being curious.

Are you being hacked?

It is a known fact that a good hacker might go unnoticed, however, it is also acknowledged that humans at some point commit mistakes. Identifying whether your machine is being hacked is no easy feat but it is an achievable target.

Whilst some hackers do this as a hobby, many consider hacking as an achievement to their efforts and therefore would be more intrigued to hack a fully-stealth system rather than the normal home user machine. Unfortunately, there’s no limit to evil and everyone is subject to a hacking attempt once their machine connects to a network or the Internet.

Users Vs Hackers: Tips and Tricks

Everyone who uses the Internet has, at some point, heard about hacking – whether purely for information or as an unfortunate victim. The word hacking has been on every Internet-user’s mind for years, but not everyone knows what hacking is and more importantly, how to fight it.

For starters, hacking has many definitions, but the prevailing one would be that hacking is the ‘art’ of bypassing all security mechanisms to gain unauthorised access into an information system (which stretches from our normal PC to high-tech servers). As everything else, not all forms of hacking is wrong because even such thing can be used for a beneficial cause. Nowadays, we can also find professional hackers who are at the service of the authorities to help them in their quest to make the Internet a safer place.
